2019 Recipients Of The Environics Award For Excellence In Advanced Social Research Announced

This September, Environics Research was proud to present the Environics Award for Excellence in Advanced Social Research to a team from Georgian College’s Research Analyst Program (RAP) for their work on the RAP Capstone Project.

For over 15 years, we have been proud to have the opportunity to partner with Georgian’s RAP program and help students prepare for a career in research. Students in this program work to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and execute the entire research process, and gain first-hand learning opportunities through exercises like the RAP Capstone Project — a key hands-on learning opportunity, allowing students to conduct real-world research and turn it into an actionable solutions for their client.

Each year, Georgian College nominates three teams to present their Capstone projects at our Toronto office and compete for this award. The winning team must excel at technical research, problem–solving, client management, presentation skills and creativity.

“In a recent poll, 29 percent say they expect to return to bricks and mortar stores “as soon as possible once restrictions are lifted.”

This year, we were impressed with the presentations and enthusiasm of all three teams. However, one team exhibited a clear passion for research and creative problem-solving skills. This team worked on a project to increase member retention, engagement and brand awareness for the Ontario Social Service Workers Association (OSSWA). Despite unforeseen challenges, the team was able to conduct in-depth interviews and analyze data to create actionable recommendations for OSSWA. From research design to presentation, this team displayed a high degree of professionalism and a thorough grasp of the research process.

Congratulations to team members Mani Sharma, Megan Rankin, Julia Skrobal and Amadul Hoque Chowdhury. Thank you to Georgian College and all participants. We look forward to next year’s submissions!
